149 dogs rescued from Utah home

OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Animal control officials in Ogden, Utah, say they rescued 149 dogs from a home after a man called to say he could no longer care for them.

Brenda Gordon, president of Pack 'N Pounce Animal Rescue, said the man claimed to have 60 dogs at his home, but when her group and Ogden Animal Control arrived Monday night, they found 149 dogs, including nursing mothers with puppies, in a home with no electricity and little food for the dogs or the man.

Pack 'N Pounce took 30 dogs, and Odgen Animal Control the rest. The dogs are all described as a "Chihuahua mix," the (Ogden) Standard-Examiner reported Wednesday.

Gordon said while homes are found for the dogs, she welcomes donations of cash to help the homeowner pay his power bill.
