WILDOMAR, Calif., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- More than 45 residents of a housing development in Wildomar, Calif., have complained that their homes are making them sick, officials said.
Residents of the Autumnwood development -- a 61 home residential development built in 2006 -- have suffered a range of illnesses that they believe were caused by toxic chemicals in their homes, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported.
Attorneys representing the homeowners claim contaminated soil underneath the homes is making them sick.
Soil testing from beneath the development found toxic levels chemicals including Formaldehyde, Chloroform and Benzene, a known carcinogen, the attorneys said.
The attorney representing the developer, Inland Pacific Builder of Santa Maria, has not commented, the report said.
Department of Toxic Substances control officials met with residents Wednesday to access the situation.
They agreed to take a second look by the end of November and let the families know what further actions to take.
