Marist poll: Obama, Romney tied in Va.

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Virginians are deadlocked between Democratic incumbent Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney in their U.S. presidential battle, a Marist poll indicated.

With less than 24 hours until Election Day, 48 percent of likely voters said the prefer Obama and 47 percent said they support Romney, the Marist-NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released Monday indicated.

Fifty-one percent of likely voters in Virginia said they have a favorable opinion of Obama and 45 percent said they do not, pollsters said.

Fifty percent of likely voters said they have a favorable impression of Romney and 45 percent said they don't, results indicated.

Results are based on telephone interviews with 1,165 likely voters in Virginia conducted Thursday and Friday. The margin of error is 2.6 percentage points.
