WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. President Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney each hold nominal leads in 10 battleground states, a United Press International poll indicated.
Obama holds a marginal advantage over Romney in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa and New Hampshire, results of the UPI-CVoter poll released Wednesday indicated. His leads in these states are between 1 percentage point and 4 percentage points, within the margin of error of 4.5 percent for the states.
Republican challenger Mitt Romney held a negligible 1 percentage point lead over Obama in Florida and less in Ohio, and the UPI-CVoter poll indicates Romney also will carry North Carolina and Indiana.
The margin of error for Ohio and Florida also was 4.5 percentage points.
"The last two weeks are crucial for both," UPI pollster Yashwant Deshmukh said. "Unless Obama increases his leads in states leaning for him, he remains vulnerable to a Romney surge. On the other hand, Romney's leads in Florida and Ohio could vanish."
Obama won all of these states in 2008.
Results are based on interviews with 1,648 likely voters in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina and Indiana. The margin of error for all states is 4.5 percentage point.
