WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan may have lied to Congress about the prostitution scandal in Cartagena, Colombia, sources tell Fox News.
Fox News, citing law enforcement officials and sources in Congress, said Sullivan's testimony is called into question in a report by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General. The sources said the department has been discussing potential charges with prosecutors from the U.S. Justice Department.
The department released a statement that gave no details.
"The Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General is conducting an ongoing investigation, requested by Congress, of the United States Secret Service regarding its actions during a presidential visit to Cartagena, Colombia, earlier this year," Charles Edwards, the acting inspector general, said. "The department and the Secret Service have cooperated with the OIG's investigation thus far."
The agents involved in sexual misconduct were on an advance team preparing for President Obama's visit to Cartagena last year.
