Puppy-nappers hit two Texas pet stores

DALLAS, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Thieves broke into two suburban Dallas pet stores overnight and made off with nine puppies, stuffing some of them into a suitcase, a store owner said Monday.

The Dallas Morning News reported the dog-napping occurred at Petland shops in Plano and Frisco.

Surveillance footage showed two men wearing hoodies and gloves removing the dogs from their cages and putting them into a suitcase and a laundry basket before leaving one store.

The newspaper said English bulldogs, a beagle, a Shih Tzu and other small breeds were among the valuable puppies taken.

Plano Petland owner Lisa Abair was distraught about the theft of the puppies.

"These are not inventory to me," she said. "Someone came into my home and stole my babies."
