3 arrested in Occupy Austin protest

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Three members of the Occupy movement were arrested in Austin, Texas, as they planned a new round of protests, police said.

Fifty protesters gathered at the Highland Park Mall at 5 p.m. Saturday and were met by police who ordered the group to leave because they were on private property. Two protesters were arrested in the incident. Later, a planned march to a nearby Home Depot where the group had hoped to set up camp was foiled by police as well for the same reason. It resulted in a third arrest, the Austin American-Statesmen reported.

The group eventually settled on private property near Interstate 35, where the owner allowed them set up camp overnight, the newspaper said.
