HURST, Texas, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- A Fort Worth, Texas, man was in custody on weapons charges and possession of forged military identification.
Hurst police identified the suspect as Azeez A. Al-Ghaziani, 29.
The discovery of the material, in a wrecked vehicle owned by the suspect, prompted the evacuation of a nearby shopping center for five hours as an explosives team and bomb-sniffing dogs inspected the vehicle, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Wednesday.
After receiving a call of a suspicious vehicle, which "looked like it had been in a wreck," Hurst Police Chief Steve Moore said, officers spotted what appeared to be military documents and an assortment of weapons Tuesday.
As police and agents of the FBI, Naval Criminal Investigation Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated, Al-Ghaziani arrived from his cleaning business in the shopping center, the newspaper said.
The car was indeed in an accident, he told officials.
He was expected to be charged with altering government records in regard to the counterfeit military identification, Lt. Mark Schwobel said.
