Mich. lottery winner dies of drug overdose

ECORSE, Mich., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A suburban Detroit woman convicted of collecting welfare after winning a $1 million lottery jackpot died Saturday of an apparent drug overdose, police said.

Police said Amanda Clayton, 25, of Lincoln Park was found dead at a residence in Ecorse, The Detroit News reported.

Clayton won the Michigan lottery in March and it was revealed soon after she was still collecting food and medical benefits from the state. She pleaded no contest in June and was subsequently placed on probation.
