FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- A former Texas teacher who had group sex with four of her students says she is the victim because she never consented for the session to be videotaped.
Brittni Colleps was convicted in August on 16 counts of having improper relationships with students, ABC News reported Friday. Although all four of the students Colleps had sex with were over the age of consent in Texas, a state law prohibits any educator in a primary or secondary school from having sex with any enrolled student, regardless of age.
Prosecutors said Colleps had sex with one student on multiple occasions and on one occasion had sex with four students at one time.
Colleps, 28, says she is the victim, as one of the students she had sex with recorded her having sex with the others.
"I felt like I was victimized in that video, because I did not, I never gave my consent for it," Colleps said.
Colleps was sentenced to five years in jail for the felony charges.
Her husband, Christopher Colleps, 31, has stood by her side throughout the ordeal and even pleaded with the judge for leniency.
"When our children get old enough, she has to look them in the eye and tell them what she did. That is punishment," he said.
