Slain abortion doc's practice reopening

WICHITA, Kan., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The building that housed a slain abortion provider's practice in Wichita, Kan., is set to reopen and doctors will resume the procedure, officials said.

The Wichita medical office of George Tiller, the doctor killed by an anti-abortion activist, was purchased by a group calling itself Trust Women Foundation, the Wichita Eagle reported Wednesday. The group is run by Julie Burkhart, an abortion-rights activist who once worked for Tiller, who was killed by Scott Roeder in June 2009.

The newspaper notes if the practice is to reopen, it must conform to hospital-like building codes under a new law regulating Kansas abortion clinics.
