Barak's office refused to comment on the meeting, Ynetnews said Thursday. It was unclear if Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was informed of the meeting, the report said.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Emanuel and Barak have been friends for about 18 years and that the mayor often meets with foreign officials who visit Chicago.
