Plane lands near Grand Canyon

TUSAYAN, Ariz., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A private plane landed on a northern Arizona highway, the pilot thinking the road was part of a nearby airport, officials said.

The small plane landed Sunday afternoon on State Route 64 several miles from the south rim of the Grand Canyon, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said, adding there were no injuries and no visible damage to the plane.

The plane blocked both lanes of the road until it was towed to nearby Grand Canyon National Park Airport in Tusayan, Ariz., KPHO-TV, Phoenix, reported.
