Restaurant owner kidnapped, robbed

MANCHESTER, Mo., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A Missouri restaurant owner said he was hit with pepper stray while counting the weekend's take then kidnapped and robbed.

Richard Lee, 75, owner of Uncle Bill's Pancake & Dinner House, told police he was in his office at the restaurant after closing Sunday when two men burst in, grabbed him, disabled him with pepper spray and forced him into his vehicle. They drove him to a St. Louis neighborhood, took his keys, wallet and $5,000 cash, then disabled his cellphone and left him there.

Lee flagged down a woman on the street for help and she called police and Lee's wife, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

"He was very scared and his eyes were really bothering him," said Lee's wife, Chi Yang Lee. "But he is a very strong man, so I think he's OK."

Police declined to comment on the investigation, the newspaper said.
