Amy Locane-Bovenizer trial set to begin

SOMERVILLE, N.J., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Former actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer will soon stand trial in New Jersey for allegedly killing a woman in a 2010 drunk driving accident, officials said.

Jury selection for the trial is set to start Tuesday, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported.

Locane, who was on the cast of the TV show "Melrose Place," faces charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto for the June 2010 accident that caused the death of 60-year-old Helene Seeman and seriously injured her husband, Fred.

On the night of the accident, Locane was driving her Chevrolet Tahoe and collided with a Mercury Milan that was was pulling into a driveway.

Authorities said Locane had a blood alcohol content of 0.268.

"We're confident going forward," defense attorney Blair Zwillman said.

The trial is set to begin Oct. 1.
