CHICAGO, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, serving 14 years in prison on corruption charges, sent an anniversary e-mail to his wife, her Facebook page indicated.

"What are you doing next year on this day? Can I take you out?" Blagojevich asked in the e-mail sent during the weekend, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday.

Blagojevich was convicted of trying to sell President Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat, among other things.

Patti Blagojevich posted her husband's e-mail on Facebook page Sunday.

"Got this message from Rod yesterday," she commented. "It is better than flowers."

In his e-mail, the former governor told his wife their wedding, along with the birth of their two daughters "was the happiest day of my life."

"You know, if you think about things as a whole and not just as a part, we really have been blessed in so many ways. I sure have," he said. "I have been blessed to be married to, and in love with, the best person I have ever known. I love you with all my heart."
