Teen captive escapes; daughter, 2, rescued

WASHINGTON PARK, Ill., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Police rescued a girl, 2, after her teenage mother escaped captivity in a Washington Park, Ill., home but couldn't take the child with her, officials said.

Police said the teen told them she escaped Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday.

Two adults were arrested.

Police said in a statement the teen told them she was 15 years old when she ran away from her home in 2010, and then was held against her will by a man who raped her and fathered her child.

Washington Park police confirmed a missing person-runaway juvenile report was on file with the St. Louis Police Department, the Post-Dispatch said.

The teen said she was "beaten and sexually assaulted by the suspect almost every day since she was in captivity."

The Washington Park police said in a release issued Wednesday the teen told authorities she was forced to lie about her child's birth.

The teen said the man and his mother forced her to use another name to conceal her identity, police said.

The teen said whenever she tried to escape she was run down by the man and forced back at gunpoint, police said. She finally escaped "with the help of a relative and came to our police department."
