NORFOLK, Va., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Mitt Romney will name his vice presidential running mate Saturday morning in Virginia, his campaign announced Friday night.

The Washington Post reported the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will reveal who he has picked to complement him on the GOP ticket during a tour of the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk.

The Washington Times noted Romney's decision to announce his running mate comes as polls this week indicate he's losing ground to Democratic President Barack Obama.

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, U.S. Rob Portman of Ohio and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty are three names most frequently thrown out as being on Romney's short list. The Times said Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell also is a possibility, while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida have had their supporters, as well.
