Three arrested after child eats crack

ATLANTA, July 26 (UPI) -- A 13-month-old boy's mother and grandmother, and the grandmother's boyfriend, were arrested after the toddler ate crack cocaine, officials in Atlanta said.

The incident happened Saturday when the toddler, Jay'von Daniel, was being watched by his grandmother, Ebony Daniel, 34, and her boyfriend, Charlie Martin, 22, at Martin's home, WGCL-TV, Atlanta, reported.

The boy's mother, Andrica Daniel, told police she asked the couple to watch Jay'von while she showered. Daniel said she knew something was wrong when she got out of the shower because Marin was upset.

"He went into the room and came right back out. He was like, 'Man shorty, what happened to my crack?' He was cussing me out like I took it," Andrica Daniel said.

Daniel said she didn't see her son eat the crack cocaine, but rushed him to the hospital as a precaution.

"His blood pressure kept going up and down. He was throwing up," said Daniel. "They ran tests on his urine. He tested positive for crack cocaine. That's how we know he ate it."

Martin and Ebony Daniel were arrested on Tuesday for the incident charged with possession of cocaine, child cruelty and reckless conduct. Andrica Daniel was arrested Wednesday on the same charges.
