Cops may have video of Oklahoma slaying

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 11 (UPI) -- Police in Oklahoma refused to say if their search of a motel room turned up a video recording of the killing and dismemberment of a 19-year-old woman.

Court documents said Bethany police searched the room in Oklahoma City on July 3 and arrested a male and female suspect on drug and gun charges, but did not confirm they found a digital recording of the 2011 slaying of Carina Saunders of Mustang.

"Anything I release could hinder our investigation," Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole told The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City.

The search took place at a motel room where a 24-year-old exotic dancer and escort named Mindy Cottier had been staying and was believed to be in possession of the video, the report said. Police said they arrested an unidentified woman who was there along with Christopher Banschbach, 26, a known felon.

Bethany police last week arrested Luis Ruiz, 37, Oklahoma City in the slaying and have named other persons of interest. The Oklahoman said court records have indicated informants told police Saunders' death was linked to a human trafficking ring.
