Bus bullying resources available

WASHINGTON, June 27 (UPI) -- Anti-bullying training materials for school bus drivers are available from the U.S. Department of Education, the agency announced Wednesday.

While 10 percent of school bullying occurs on school buses, drivers often do not feel equipped to handle bullying incidents, the statement said.

Guidance is available in the form of a reference card for drivers, indicating actions to take and ways to intervene in bullying behavior and de-escalate threatening situations. Information is available at safesupportiveschools.ed.gov, the Education Department's Office of Safe and Healthy Students said.
