LAS VEGAS, June 20 (UPI) -- The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating a mechanical problem that caused a JetBlue flight to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas.
JetBlue Flight 194, which made an emergency landing Sunday at Las Vegas' McCarran Airport, after experiencing hydraulic problems. ABC News reported the mechanical issues caused the plane to shake violently, moving sharply from side to side.
"People were getting sick," passenger Tom Mizer told the New York Post. "Some people were throwing up. There were a lot of people getting nauseous."
One flight attendant walked down the aisle reassuring passengers that there was nothing to worry about, however another passenger told the Post: "You could hear a screeching -- an obvious mechanical screeching…we were bouncing around a lot."
The New York-bound flight departed Las Vegas and began to experience issues moments after takeoff. The captain declared an emergency and returned to McCarran airport about 7:37 p.m., grounding 135 passengers.
A replacement plane took the passengers on their way shortly after 10 p.m.
"JetBlue takes all incidences seriously, and the safety of our customers and crew members is our No. 1 priority," JetBlue said in a statement after the incident. "The actions the crew took in response to this even truly represent who we are and our core value -- safety."
