Panetta to lead U.S. delegation

WASHINGTON, June 19 (UPI) -- President Obama announced Tuesday Defense Secretary Leon Panetta will lead the U.S. delegation for the funeral of Saudi Prince Nayif bin Abd al-Aziz al-Saud.

The crown prince, Saudi Arabia's deputy premier and minister of interior, died Saturday at age 78.

In a statement from the White House, members of the group that will travel to Saudi Arabia Wednesday include James B. Smith, U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia; John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism; Robert S. Mueller III, FBI director; A. Elizabeth Jones, acting assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs; former CIA director George Tenet; and Frances Townsend, former assistant to the president for counterterrorism and homeland security.
