CHICAGO, June 16 (UPI) -- President Obama and his family spent a rare weekend in their Chicago home while in town for the Saturday wedding of a key adviser's daughter.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the first family walked down the street from their South Side home to Valerie Jarrett's house for the wedding of Laura Jarrett and Tony Balikissoon.

The president appeared to be wearing a tan suit with a light-colored tie, while the first lady wore a cream-colored, ankle-length skirt with a dark, shimmery sleeveless top. Daughter Malia was in a yellow dress and Sasha was in a green one. The girls' grandmother, Marian Robinson, was in a black-and-white patterned short sleeve-dress or skirt and top combo.

Among the other guests spotted included U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Clinton administration adviser Vernon Jordan and Ariel Investments Chief Executive Officer John Rogers Jr.

Security was tight Saturday in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood, where the Obamas' house is located. About 100 Chicago police officers were posted in the blocks around the Obamas' house, WLS-TV reported, along with Secret Service agents.

Soon after they arrived Friday afternoon, the Obamas and their daughters walked to the home of Martin Nesbitt, an old neighborhood friend. The family returned to their own house about 1:30 a.m. Saturday by car.

The news media has been barred from observing Laura Jarrett's wedding, ABC News reported. Laura Jarrett and Balikissoon, received their law degrees from Harvard, as did the president and his wife, and Balikissoon works for the same Chicago law firm that once employed Michelle Obama.
