Cocaine said to be worth $7.3M found

MIAMI, June 14 (UPI) -- Customs officials said they discovered nearly 459 pounds of cocaine hidden in a container at the Port of Miami, worth $7.3 million.

The container arrived in Miami May 29 from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, on a freighter that originated in Panama. The ship also stopped in Colombia and Mexico.

A drug-sniffing canine alerted officials to the container, inside of which were several boxes. Hidden within eight of the boxes were 169 bricks of white substance, which tested positive for cocaine, investigators said.
