Lucky the dog dies of cancer

NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- Lucky, a Maltese that holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for being the dog most photographed with celebrities, has passed away in New York.

The small dog lost her battle with cancer at the age of 15 Tuesday, AnimalFair.com reported.

Lucky was adopted from a shelter by Wendy Diamond in 1999.

Since then, she has gone on to promote animal rescue and help endangered species around the world by serving as the Chair-Dog for the Katrina Pet Memorial, Grand Marshall of Barkus, as well as the American Cancer Society's Bark for Life and hosted thousands of events to better animal welfare. She was also the only dog to be admitted into the United Nations.

Lucky has also been photographed with more than 300 celebrities, earning her the world record of most photographed dog with celebrities of all time. She has been photographed with celebrities such as former President Bill Clinton, Kanye West and Betty White
