Officers guilty of assault and battery

CHICAGO, May 19 (UPI) -- A federal jury found several Chicago police officers guilty of battery and assault outside of a bar, while rejecting a suit against the city of Chicago.

Four men who accused several off-duty officers of participating in a brawl outside Jefferson Tap Bar & Grille in 2006 were awarded a combined $33,700 in compensatory and punitive damages against the officers, the Chicago Tribune reported.
