RALEIGH, N.C., April 27 (UPI) -- Only 29 percent of Texas voters think Republican Rick Perry, the longest continuously serving current U.S. governor, should run again in 2014, a poll indicates.

And while 64 percent of voting Texans say they think Perry should not run again for governor, 49 percent of Republicans say they think he should run again, a survey by Public Policy Polling showed.

The poll indicated Texans say a White House run is not in the cards for Perry with 73 percent giving another run for the Republican presidential nomination thumbs down and 19 percent approving another try for Perry.

Texans ranked Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson the greatest president ever, and Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison was shown to be more popular than her party-mate Sen. John Cornyn. Respondents ranked San Antonio the Lone Star State's favorite city followed by Austin and Dallas.

Public Policy Polling surveyed 591 Texas voters April 19-22. The margin of error was 4 percentage points.
