Man charged with unlicensed dentistry

NEW CASSEL, N.Y., April 26 (UPI) -- Long Island, N.Y., police arrested a man allegedly for practicing dentistry for a year without a license.

Manuel Carranza, 46, of New Cassel was arrested Wednesday at his home, where he maintained a dental practice, after detectives received a telephone call about his unlicensed business. They found dental equipment and prescription medicines, as well as two stun guns and a forged New York State identification card, police said.

Newsday reported Thursday Carranza will be charged in First District Court in Hempstead, N.Y., with unauthorized practice, a felony, as well as possession of a forged instrument, possession of a dangerous weapon and criminal diversion of a prescription.
