LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- Los Angeles police say the so-called teardrop rapist, sought in connection with 28 sexual assaults going back more than 13 years, has taken another victim.
The assaults first occurred between 1999 and 2003 in Koreatown and South Los Angeles, culminating with the June 2003 attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl by the same assailant, police said Tuesday.
She was able to escape and help provide the description of her assailant, the Los Angeles Times reported.
At the time he was described as a male Hispanic, 30- to 40-years-old, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and a teardrop tattoo on one of his eyes, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, said.
A person wearing a teardrop tattoo under the eye used to mean the wearer had killed someone. Now it can simply be a gang identifier, the report said.
