Pawlenty disbands campaign, pays off debt

MINNEAPOLIS, April 10 (UPI) -- Tim Pawlenty, who ended his bid for the U.S. Republican presidential nomination in August, moved Tuesday to disband his campaign.

Public documents indicate Pawlenty, the former Minnesota governor, has cleared the $435,500 in debt he had when his campaign folded.

"It was truly an honor to run for president of the United States," the Minneapolis Star Tribune quoted Pawlenty as saying in a statement.

The Hill reported among the last donations to help clear Pawlenty's debt was a $2,000 check from Rep. Michele Bachmann's Michele PAC. Bachmann, R-Minn., also sought the nomination.
