Ex-NBA center Loren Woods charged with DUI

TAMPA, Fla., April 5 (UPI) -- Former NBA player Loren Woods was released from jail after his arrest in Tampa, Fla., on charges of driving under the influence and bribery of a public servant.

Tampa police said Loren G. Woods, 33, was arrested about 4 a.m. Wednesday, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Woods, a second-round draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2001, was released Wednesday after posting $2,500 bail.

Woods, a 300 pound, 7-foot-1 center, also played for the Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets, where he finished his NBA career in 2008.

He played this season for the Iranian Super League professional basketball league and has also played for pro teams in Spain, Lebanon and Lithuania, Asia-Basket.com said.
