PHOENIX, March 26 (UPI) -- Ariz. Gov. Jan Brewer received more than 12,000 messages from people across the country since she was seen wagging her finger at the president, her office said.
Most of the letters and e-mails received after the Jan. 24 interaction at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport condemned the Republican governor for the way she treated President Barack Obama, a Democrat, The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, reported Sunday.
At the airport, Brewer wagged her finger at Obama during their brief conversation, during which they were talking over each other. Obama walked away from Brewer has she was still talking.
"If you approached me like you did the president I would have taken great comfort by poking you in the nose," wrote Eleanor Tafolla of Cathedral City, Calif. "You might want to work on you [sic] prissy attitude you project. Whoa lady you did not deserve a talk with the president or anyone else for that matter."
Deborah Gross of Michigan wrote, "Your racism and crude behavior is typical of the GOP. Karma will not be kind to you and your fellow regressive, racist Republican friends."
Yet, Brewer did get some letters of praise and support.
Agnes Brunetti of Shenandoah, Iowa, wrote that she was "so very proud" of the governor for "standing up to that narcissist, egotistical, smug, puffed up president!!"
Chuck Bower of Indiana agreed and congratulated the governor on the incident, saying, "The only thing you did wrong was wave the 'wrong' finger in his face."
