WASHINGTON, March 18 (UPI) -- President Obama briefly greeted onlookers Sunday outside a Washington church where he and his family attended late-morning services.

The president, first lady Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha were in their Sunday best as they entered St. John's Church without making any comments to the assembled media.

A pool reporter inside said the Rev. Thomas Reid spoke about the meaning of the classic hymn "Amazing Grace" and administered communion to the Obamas.

The Obamas spent about an hour inside the Episcopal church at 16th and H Street before strolling through Lafayette Park and back to the White House.
