OMAHA, March 16 (UPI) -- Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale Friday ruled Bob Kerrey does not meet residency requirements but nonetheless can run for his old U.S. Senate seat.
Responding to an objection from the state Republican Party, Gale said Kerrey failed to meet Nebraska's residency requirements when he filed his candidate ballot form Feb. 29, but he ruled the U.S. Constitution's less-stringent guidelines allow Kerrey to participate in the May 15 primary, WOWT-TV, Omaha, reported.
