LAFAYETTE, Colo., March 15 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Colorado man was ticketed after allegedly tying his cat to a rock after the animal refused to go jogging with him, police said.
Seth Franco of Lafayette was given a ticket for suspicion of domestic animal cruel treatment Wednesday after tethering his cat to a rock while he jogged along path around Waneka Lake Park, The (Boulder) Daily Camera reported.
A passerby saw the cat and called police, Lafayette police Sgt. Fred Palmer said.
"Apparently, the individual was trying to jog with the animal on a leash and the animal was either unwilling or unable to keep up," Palmer said.
Lafayette animal control officers arrived at the scene and found Franco retrieving his pet.
"Our ordinance prohibits that kind of tethering," Palmer said, adding that because the animal was uninjured, it was released to Franco.
