SHELBYVILLE, Tenn., March 8 (UPI) -- A Tennessee woman who sent her adopted son back to Russia has been ordered to pay child support.
Circuit Judge Lee Russell issued the order against Torry Hansen, who failed to appear in Lynchburg Wednesday, the Shelbyville Times-Gazette reported.
In April 2010, Hansen sent her 7-year-old adopted Russian son back to Russia with a note saying he was violent, had psychological problems and she didn't want him anymore.
Since then, she has refused to cooperate with authorities investigating the situation, the newspaper said.
In May 2010, Hansen's adoption agency, World Association for Children and Parents, filed a lawsuit against the woman and her mother, Nancy, seeking child support for the boy, identified as Artem Saveliev, also known as Justin Hansen.
The suit was first filed in circuit court, then transferred to juvenile court, where it was dismissed last year.
WACAP refiled the lawsuit against Torry Hansen for breach of contract and child support last July, but she has never responded, causing Judge Russell to rule against her Wednesday.
