Ohio shooting victim's service scheduled

CHARDON, Ohio, March 5 (UPI) -- Family and friends of Demetrius Hewlin, one of three students killed in a Chardon, Ohio, school shooting spree, prepared for a final visitation Monday.

The observance at the Burr Funeral Home in Chardon, 30 miles east of Cleveland, precedes Hewlin's Tuesday funeral service, the day alleged shooter T.J. Lane returns to court. Lane has been charged with three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one of felonious assault.

Hewlin, 16, and two schoolmates died last week after a gunman opened fire in the Chardon High School cafeteria. A funeral service for Daniel Parmertor, 16, took place Saturday. Russell King, 17, will be buried Thursday.

Two other students were hospitalized, and another was grazed by gunfire, police reports stated.

The charges against Lane were filed in juvenile court by prosecutor David Joyce. A later court hearing will determine if the case will be transferred to adult court, CNN reported.
