Woman sues for roommate's sex life

EASTON, Mass., March 4 (UPI) -- A former student is suing Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., alleging she was harmed by her dorm roommate's active sex life, lawyers say.

Lindsay Blankmeyer filed a federal lawsuit against Stonehill College Wednesday, claiming the school violated the Rehabilitation Act and the federal Fair Housing Act Amendments and Massachusetts' anti-discrimination laws in its handling of her issues with her roommate.

She is seeking damages of $150,000, on the grounds that her roommate's habits worsened her symptoms of depression and attention deficit disorder, ABC News reported.

The suit said she complained to Stonehill administration because her roommate "would have sex with her boyfriend while [Lindsay] was trying to sleep just a few feet away," and also "engage in sexually inappropriate video chatting."

Blankmeyer alleges the resident director "did nothing to alleviate the problem." A spokesman for Stonehill told ABC News a residence director set up mediation to resolve the issues between the roommates. When that failed, she was offered other housing options on campus. Blankmeyer ultimately chose to complete her degree from her home in New York.
