PALM BEACH, Fla., March 2 (UPI) -- A suspicious package found outside the home of conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was a business pitch, not a bomb, Palm Beach, Fla., police said.

Police said Limbaugh called authorities Thursday after he used a scanning device on the package left outside his compound and found what appeared to be wires inside the package, the South Florida Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale reported.

When bomb squad technicians opened the package, they found an electronic plaque commemorating the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln that was sent from a Pennsylvania listener who meant for the package to serve as an ice-breaker to pitch a business opportunity, police said.

Detectives determined there was no threat to Limbaugh after interviewing the sender, who apologized for the confusion, the newspaper said.

Limbaugh did not comment.
