HOUSTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A Houston man shot and killed his 12-year-old daughter and wounded her older sister and her mother before taking his own life Sunday, police said.
The 43-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl who survived the outbreak of violence at a Houston condominium were hospitalized in critical condition, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The names of the shooter and his victims had not been released.
Houston police spokesman John Cannon said it was unclear why the man started shooting.
"It's safe to say that our challenge tonight is talking with the mother as much as she can talk, and apparently she's been able to talk, so that's what's going to help us try to tie some things together," Cannon said.
He said the man was the registered owner of the residence and the woman and children lived there. It wasn't clear whether the couple were married, he said.
