WEATHERFORD, Texas, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A Texas man was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and sexually torturing a woman last year.

A State District Court jury in Weatherford, Texas, deliberated for less than an hour Wednesday and recommended maximum sentences for Jeffrey Maxwell, 59, who was convicted Tuesday. A prosecutor said Maxwell will serve at least 60 years in prison.

Three witnesses testified Wednesday they had been prior victims of sexual assault by Maxwell, two of whom claimed he molested them when they were children. A third said he raped her in 1995, but she did not contact police, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday.

Prosecutor Jeff Swain told jurors Maxwell had a fantasy "bucket list" that included raping and torturing women. Defense attorney Richard Alley told Judge Trey Loftin no one agreed to speak in court on Maxwell's behalf, including his two sons.
