HENDERSON, Nev., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A Nevada man faces up to 20 years in prison after admitting he kidnapped a 7-year-old girl and forced a cab driver to take them to California.

Matthew Charles Hayward, 29, of Henderson pleaded guilty Wednesday, the Las Vegas Sun reported. U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden said the charges included kidnapping, carjacking and child pornography.

Bogden said the victim was the daughter of the boyfriend of one of Hayward's relatives. Hayward admitted lying to get the girl out of his cousin's house last March, driving off with her and then, when his car broke down, commandeering a cab at knifepoint.

Hayward left the cabdriver and the girl in Barstow, Calif., ditching the cab there a short time later. He was arrested the next day in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Sentencing is scheduled for June.
