WESTFIELD, N.J., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Pop star Whitney Houston was buried next to her father, John Houston, in a private ceremony Sunday at Fairview Cemetery outside Westfield, N.J.
Police said security was tight for the burial, mtv.com reported.
Houston was found dead Feb. 11 in the bathtub of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The burial was a private affair with an invitation-only audience of friends and family.
A star-studded crowd turned out in Newark Saturday for the funeral at New Hope Baptist Church.
Westfield police warned residents to expect several road closures prior to the burial Sunday and a heavy police presence in the area, The (Newark) Star-Ledger said.
Fairview covers 105 acres and is the final resting place of notables including Kool and the Gang co-founder Claydes Smith and Virginia Apgar, whose Apgar Score is a standard test for newborn infants to measure their health and viability.
