Oklahoma teacher accused of rape

PUTNAM CITY, Okla., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A high school Spanish teacher in Oklahoma has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, police said.

Lisa Kays, 46, of Yukon, was arrested Monday for three complaints of rape and two complaints of forcible oral sodomy and was later released after posting bail, The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported Tuesday. She has been on paid leave from Putnam City High School since Thursday, Superintendent Paul Hurst said.

"The relationship would be contrary to all the values of the teaching profession," he said.

The male student told school officials he had five sexual encounters with Kays: the two allegedly had sex three times and Kays performed oral sex during the other encounters. The student said three of the encounters took place in Kays' classroom after school hours.

The allegations came Feb. 7 through an anonymous e-mail service to the school, Putnam City Schools Police Chief Mark Stout told the newspaper. The alleged victim initially denied a sexual relationship but changed his story in a later interview.

Stout said he expects formal charges to be filed later this week.
