TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Campus police at Florida A&M University say they have arrested four students in connection with a hazing incident involving the school's marching band.
Band members Denise Bailey, Brandon Benson, Hakeem Birch and Anthony Mingo, arrested Thursday, are suspected of hazing five fellow band members who pledged a band sub-group known as the "Clones."
Hazing is a felony in Florida, punishable by a maximum of five years in prison, WXIA-TV, Atlanta, reported Friday.
The arrest warrant said the defendants "punched, prepped (slapped with both hands on back) and paddled" the five pledges.
The four, all members of the band's clarinet section, were suspended in November, weeks before drum major Robert Champion was killed during an alleged hazing incident in Orlando, Fla., WFTV-TV, Orlando, reported.
