JACKSON, Ga., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A Georgia man sentenced to life in prison for killing a 7-year-old girl was found dead in his cell, a spokeswoman for the state corrections department said.
Kristen Stancil said 20-year-old Ryan Brunn was pronounced dead at a hospital after he was found unresponsive at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Ga., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.
Stancil would not say who found Brunn or how he died.
Brunn pleaded guilty Tuesday to enticing 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera of Canton, Ga., to a vacant apartment Dec. 2 to molest her.
Police said he cut her throat, beat her over the head with a roller skate and discarded the body in a trash compactor.
Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison said he had asked the corrections department for special treatment for Brunn because he considered him a "high-risk inmate."
His death has been referred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Stancil said.
An autopsy was being performed to determine the cause of death.
