Body found frozen in a lagoon

DETROIT, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Police found the body of a Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., man frozen in a lagoon on Bell Isle in Detroit.

The body of James Ivers, 46, was found at 1 p.m. Thursday. Ivers, a Detroit water board employee, left to visit Belle Isle around noon Sunday and apparently rear-ended a parked car. Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Director David Hiller said Ivers got out of his car, took his keys with him, and walked away from the scene.

The owner of the parked car reported the damage to police at 3 p.m. Ivers' wife reported him missing Monday after he never came home and did not answer his phone.

Hiller told the Detroit Free Press state police dogs found Ivers' body as well as another unidentified body. The other body is estimated to have been in the lagoon for two or three months.
