Poll shows PBS is most trusted for TV news

WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- For the second year in a row, a Public Policy Polling survey indicates voters trust PBS more than any other television news source.

Beating out other broadcast stations, PBS garnered 52 percent of voters who said it was their most trusted news source, followed by Fox News with 45 percent, NBC with 44 percent, CNN with 43 percent, CBS with 40 percent, MSNBC with 38 percent and ABC with 37 percent.

The stations most trusted by liberals were ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and PBS. Conservative voters trusted only Fox News.

"Television news has become just as polarizing as the politicians themselves," said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. "Democrats trust everything except Fox News, while Republicans trust nothing except Fox News."

PPP conducted the survey Jan. 13-16 via phone among 700 voters. The margin of error is 3.7 percentage points.
