WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- President Obama and his family will honor Martin Luther King Jr. at a community service project in the Washington area, the White House daily schedule said.

The schedule indicates the Obamas will participate in the project to celebrate the civil rights leader's life and legacy.

In the evening, Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend the Let Freedom Ring Celebration at the Kennedy Center.
